A blog post by health policy, consulting, and lobbying firm McDermott+ dives into the recently released annual report from the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC), the nonpartisan independent legislative branch agency that provides the U.S. Congress with analysis and policy advice on the Medicare program -- with a particular focus on a recurring but yet unfulfilled ask.

The post, “MedPAC recommends ASCs report cost data, again,” notes that MedPAC stated that ASCs should submit cost data – a recommendation that McDermott+ Senior Directors Jeffrey Davis and Devin Stone say the has now made for 18 consecutive years, with the exception of 2023. While they agree that “this latest iteration isn’t likely to gain traction or be fully adopted anytime soon,” they proceed to examine the persistent but non-binding recommendation and the reasons why MedPAC keeps pushing for it.

So, could this be the year Congress acts on MedPAC's recommendation? Read the full post here.
