Although most people have largely returned to normal activities, mental health is still a concern, finds surveys conducted between March 2020 and September 2022 by Pew Research Center and other organizations.
Among the findings:
- 41% of adults experienced high levels of psychological distress at some point in the pandemic.
- 37% of high school students reported mental health challenges during the pandemic.
- 28% of parents of teenagers were extremely or very worried that their teen’s use of social media could lead to anxiety or depression.
- 48% of parents with K-12 children said the first year of the pandemic had a very or somewhat negative impact on their children’s emotional well-being.
- 60% of parents with K-12 children said the first year of the pandemic had a negative effect on their children’s education.
