New Jersey’s RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group has relocated several “key practices” into a “newly designed, state-of-the-art medical suite” on the second floor of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH) Rahway.

The practices are cardiology, general surgery and specialized pulmonary care, with primary care on the way.

It says the move will offer patients “a modern environment for comprehensive, expert care with the convenience of a single, centralized location.”

“Our goal is to ensure that health care is never more than a few miles away for our patients,” said Michael Prilutsky, president and CEO of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, who added that the goal of the surgical practice relocations is to create a “seamless transition between acute and ambulatory care.”

Services now available at the Rahway hospital include:

  • Cardiology. “Integrated heart care” including advanced diagnostic testing, cardiac rehabilitation, and emergency angioplasty supported by a “state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization laboratory.”
  • General surgery. “Comprehensive” surgical services for a “wide range of conditions, with bariatric (Weight Loss) surgery also available.” It says minimally invasive and robotic-assisted techniques available at the facility can “better support faster recovery and better outcomes.”
  • Pulmonary. Diagnosis and treatment of lung conditions, including on-site testing, pulmonary rehab, and management of acute and chronic respiratory illness.

“We are providing a continuum of care that pairs cutting-edge technology, like our cardiac catheterization lab and robotic surgery platforms, with the convenience of local access,” said Eric Kleinert, chief administrative officer of RWJUH Rahway.
