Cleveland Clinic is expanding the utilization of its ORs by opening more of them up to Saturday elective procedures, particularly in its ophthalmology and orthopedics service lines.
Cole Eye Institute on Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is now offering eye procedures on Saturdays, while Medina (Ohio) Hospital, as well as Marymount Hospital and Marymount Ambulatory Surgery Center in Garfield Heights, Ohio, will offer elective outpatient orthopedic surgeries and procedures on Saturdays.
This is just the latest update in a strategy that began in June 2025, when Cleveland Clinic announced expanded weeknight and weekend specialty appointments at numerous Northeast Ohio locations and Saturday surgeries and procedures at several of its regional hospitals, soon followed by the addition of Saturday surgeries and procedures at its main campus.
“We are excited to be able to add more specialties and locations to our expanded hours initiative,” said Scott Steele, MD, president of the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus Submarket. “We are committed to meeting patients where they are and providing them with options for care at times that work with their schedules.”
Cleveland Clinic reports that since it added Saturday surgery and procedure hours, its care teams have performed nearly 1,600 weekend cases, with endoscopies and chronic pain treatments accounting for the highest case volumes.
