Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth) announced that eight of its hospitals are now unified under a single hospital license. The health system stated that this administrative change will help it operate as a more connected health system, with providers able to share information more easily, coordinate care more quickly and better support patients who need advanced services across its network.

WMCHealth employee pay, benefits, seniority and day-to-day work responsibilities will remain the same, the health system states.

“This unification strengthens our ability to deliver safe, high-quality and consistent care for every patient we serve,” said WMCHealth President and CEO David Lubarsky, MD, MBA, FASA. “While nearly all of these changes are expected to take place behind the scenes, the benefits for patients, physicians and employees will be felt every day.”

WMCHealth stated that the change includes:

The system’s Margaretville Hospital is not part of the integration in order to preserve its Critical Access Hospital designation, while its MidHudson Regional Hospital already operates as a division of Westchester Medical Center.

WMCHealth is also advancing plans to unify its electronic medical record platform across all hospitals in with New York State’s Safety Net Transformation Grant strategy to improve stability and quality across safety net providers. “A unified EMR will give clinical teams consistent, real-time patient information to support faster, better-informed decisions,” the health system stated.
