Session preview: Learn all about AAAHC’s new AI Governance Guide

In mid-August, the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) launched its 1095 Advance AI Governance Guide, an implementation resource designed to help ASCs “establish practical governance frameworks for the safe, effective, and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).”

We’re excited to announce that leaders of ASCs and health systems attending Periop Leader Week can hear much more about this new resource directly from AAAHC on Monday, Oct, 5, from 9:15 to 10:15 am at the Savannah Convention Center in Savannah, Ga.

During her interactive session, Putting AI governance into practice: What perioperative leaders need to know, Julie Lynch, MS, BSN, RN, director of AAAHC’s Institute for Quality Improvement, will provide an overview of the guide, and instruct attendees how to:

  • describe the benefits, risks, and governance considerations associated with AI in ambulatory healthcare
  • classify AI applications based on risk and determine appropriate AI oversight strategies
  • implement practical AI governance action plans to support safe, responsible, and compliant AI use in ambulatory care settings

“As AI becomes increasingly integrated into daily clinical and operational workflows, perioperative leaders face new opportunities to improve efficiency and decision support while managing risks related to patient safety, privacy, bias, cybersecurity, and regulatory compliance,” states Ms. Lynch. Attendees of her session will walk away with a much deeper understanding of how to properly balance those opportunities and risks.
