American College of Cardiology comments on CMS 2027 OPPS and ASC Payment System proposed rule

The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has submitted formal comments to CMS on the 2027 Hospital Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC) Payment System proposed rule. The ACC states that its letter includes:

  • Support for increased reimbursement for cardiac PET/CT services
  • Support for maintaining higher reimbursement rates for cardiac CT angiography
  • Commentary on changes to the 340B Drug Program
  • Response to a “site neutral” payment proposal for non-contract imaging at off-campus provider-based departments
  • Support for moving Software as a Medical Service (SaMS) procedures to new technology ambulatory payment classifications while a longer-term plan to address these services is developed
  • Commentary regarding the ongoing dissolution of the inpatient-only list
  • Feedback on changes to the hospital outpatient and ASC quality reporting programs
