Nonprofit health system Ascension announced that it has officially completed its long-anticipated acquisition of ASC management, development and operation company AMSURG.
Ascension’s ASC network now expands to 300 facilities nationwide. “This is a critical step in Ascension’s growth strategy, directly responding to the national shift toward the outpatient setting,” stated the health system. “It increases access to convenient, high-quality, and lower-cost surgical options in community-based settings while optimizing hospital resources for more complex acute care.”
Ascension stated that the completion of the transaction reinforces its “disciplined, forward-looking strategy to ensure long-term sustainability” and that it will advance its work to “build a more connected and value-driven healthcare ecosystem.”
