Media outlet Mississippi Today reports that Greenwood Leflore Hospital received temporary relief from making payments to the state’s Medicaid system after an order issued by a Hinds County Chancery judge last week.
The judge ordered the Mississippi Division of Medicaid to temporarily stop collecting money owed by Greenwood Leflore after the hospital said resuming the recoupments would likely force its closure.
Mississippi Today reports that the hospital and Mississippi Medicaid have been “locked in a dispute since last summer about how quickly the hospital must repay the debt.” It says the order requires the state to pause recoupments while the hospital’s case proceeds in court, provide Greenwood Leflore posts a $50,000 cash bond within 30 days.
