Mount Sinai Health System announced that it will open Peakpoint Central Nassau Surgery Center in Carle Place, N.Y., on Long Island this month.

The 20,400-square-foot multispecialty ASC will offer gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic and spine surgery, otolaryngology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry, and urology procedures.

A joint venture among Mount Sinai, surgeons, and ASC development and management firm Merritt Healthcare, the surgery center features two operating rooms, two procedure rooms, and 17 recovery bays, including three private and three 23-hour-stay rooms.

The center’s medical director, Mount Sinai urologist Michael Gorin, MD, stated, “With Mount Sinai care hubs now located in Wantagh and Greenlawn, this centrally located ambulatory surgery center helps connect existing facilities while expanding access for patients across Long Island. The Center’s opening is also an important step in convening Mount Sinai’s Long Island-based surgeons under one roof to foster a unified, collaborative approach to surgical care across the region.”

Affiliated and non-affiliated Mount Sinai physicians from across the region will have access to the center, according to the health system.

“Combined with the incredible advancements taking place at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital in Oceanside and our numerous multispecialty centers, plus a host of other initiatives, Mount Sinai is bringing Manhattan-level clinical services to the communities of Long Island,” stated Ken Long, senior vice president of network operations for the Mount Sinai Health System.
