Mr. Heiser’s closing keynote address, The future of surgery is not something that happens to us. It is something we design, will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 1:30 to 2:15 pm.
During his energetic, fun and insightful talk, he will envision for the assembled perioperative leadership community his vision of the future of OR operations, from managing surgical services to engineering high-performance surgical ecosystems. He will describe the operating model of tomorrow’s ORs, and lay out eight strategic options that perioperative leaders must consider as the industry moves into the late 2020s and early 2030s.
He’ll also envision the skill sets that will be required of the most effective OR leaders 10 years from now, explain why patient safety and the patient experience will remain keys to success, and leave leaders with three questions they should ask themselves as they work toward a better perioperative future.
Mr. Heiser’s informative, uplifting and interactive keynote will be the perfect sign-off for Periop Leader Week 2026!

His consulting engagements consistently lead to improved access and scheduling accuracy, reduction in cost per case, increased market share for surgical services, better relationships with surgeons and anesthesiologists, waitlist management implementation, enhanced anesthesiology resource utilization, greater standardization across surgeons and facilities, more efficient use of existing OR capacity
Through his data-driven approach to operational redesign, Randy combines deep operational knowledge with rigorous data analysis. His focus on benchmarking and comparative performance metrics ensures clients can track progress, prioritize investments, and sustain long-term improvements. He has supported redesign and reengineering efforts across multiple clinical departments and possesses a keen understanding of how to optimize quality while managing scarce resources.
