According to reporting from Healthcare Dive and numerous other news organizations, Providence Health Plan, the insurance division of Pacific Northwest health system Providence, will close completely after talks with an unnamed national insurer to keep its Medicare Advantage plans afloat failed.

In May, we reported that Providence Health Plan would “transition out of most of its health insurance lines of business beginning in 2027,” including individual and family and employer group/commercial plans, and that it was “actively working on a potential new agreement with another health insurance carrier” that would allow its approximately 55,000 Medicare Advantage members to retain their coverage for 2027. As it turns out, that will not happen.
