Three Gables Surgery Center of Proctorville, Ohio, will close its doors by year’s end.
Marshall Health Network announced this week that, after nearly a quarter-century in business, the ASC has begun a “phased closure” process, with operations “expected to conclude later this year.”
Three Gables Surgery Center, established in 2002, is a multispecialty ASC where orthopedic, ENT, plastic/reconstructive, ophthalmology, podiatry and pain management procedures are performed.
The facility has been operating under the management of Marshall Health Network - St. Mary’s Medical Center, to which the ASC will transition procedures over the coming months, along with Marshall Health Network - Cabell Huntington Hospital. Physicians who perform surgery at Three Gables hold privileges at one or both of those hospitals, which are located just across the Ohio River in Huntington, W.Va.
The health network stated of the ASC, “In recent years, surgical case volume has steadily declined while operating costs have continued to rise. Following a thorough review of the center’s operations, transitioning services was determined to be the most sustainable path forward. Both hospitals have the capacity to safely accommodate these procedures and maintain continuity of care.”
Marshall Health Network added that it is meeting individually with Three Gables employees to “identify opportunities across the health system where their skills can continue to benefit patients.” The health system stated that additional information will be provided directly to affected patients as transition plans are finalized.
